Dear Awana Pastors and Leadership,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope and pray everyone enjoyed Christmas and New Years. We had some good times being with our kids and building family time. Penny's Grandmother was visiting with us for the holidays which reminded me of a famous quote from Benjamin Franklin who said, "Guest like fish, begin to smell after 3 days." I hope she is not reading this… it was only meant to be funny (LOL).
You are a wonderful person and I pray that your year is full of laughter and great accomplishments. This year choose to go the extra mile, get one more everything, kid, verse, baptism, visitor, parent, leader, volunteer... you fill in the blank.
I love you! I love what you are doing and I love what you are going to do.
Micah 6:8 "“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

TESTIMONY
Hi Raine!
I'm good! Awana is going very well. We've had an incredible response to our first semester. It's been such a blessing to already hear testimonies from parents of how their kids are up reading their Bibles and memorizing their scriptures in their room late at night =) One mom stopped me at the tennis courts with tears in her eyes to tell me how she never thought she'd have to tell her son to stop reading his Bible.
Thank you for your prayers -- I'm very excited to see all that God has in store for the kids and families!

FUNNY
Just for fun I thought I'd pass along this list of the 25 worst passwords for 2011.
Here is this year’s list:
1. password
2. 123456
3.12345678
4. qwerty
5. abc123
6. monkey
7. 1234567
8. letmein
9. trustno1
10. dragon
11. baseball
12. 111111
13. iloveyou
14. master
15. sunshine
16. ashley
17. bailey
18. passw0rd
19. shadow
20. 123123
21. 654321
22. superman
23. qazwsx
24. michael
25. football
So all you quirky little monkeys and supermen who trust no one and have a penchant for number sequences, I love you (I really do), but consider changing your passw0rd while you're in the sunshine rather than the shadow of night. Let me in just this once....and that means you too Michael. Master that dragon and then go play or watch football this Thanksgiving weekend! :)

MOTIVATION FOR THE WORD
While conducting an Awana presentation in the summer a leader in the church gave me a wonderful idea on how to get kids involved in memorizing. She said to take all the verses (Chapter and verse only) and put them in a jar as each kid passes the section and each week have the kids reach in the jar and pull out a verse. If the kid memorizes the verse they pick, reward them with candy, toy, points, bucks, etc. If you are not already doing this, try it!
KIDS LIKE CANDY, PRIZES & ESPECIALLY PARTIES!
Have a goal set for the remainder of the year. If you can pass two sections a night.............. you get ...... Name your price. Now, if you do not have the funds (many do not) I suggest ideas like parties, a visit from your children's pastor to your school (2nd BC does this) or an extra award at the year end ceremony.

TIP
WHY DO YOU THINK YOUR LEADERS NEED TO READ THE AWANA ROLE BOOKS ?
Discipline … Game Time … Handbook Time … Awards. All of these facets of Awana can make or break your club on any given night.
