Part-time! - Thursday, June 12, 2008

Hello Awana family! The Lord has provided in a mighty way, and I am now "officially" a part of the Texas Missionary team on a part-time basis! I am now at about 58% of my fundraising goals, and will begin working on a year-long event schedule across the North Texas region. Be looking for the 2008-2009 events schedule around July 19th!

To begin serving on a full-time basis, I need to reach 70%+ of my support goals. Pray that the Lord will continue to provide and that I will be able to reach full-time status by the end of the summer!

“Don’t do what others can and will do. Do what others can not and will not do.”
--Count Zinzendorf, founder of the Moravians

The way into the fulness of God is not by obeying Romans 12:1. That is taught no where in Scripture. I belive that Romans 12:1 shows the RESULT of knowing the fulness of God.
--Lance Latham

“It’s not about what you do or how much you know. It is about loving the Lord Jesus Christ!”

Certainly is the mark of the commonsense life - gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life. Leave everything to Him and it will be gloriously and graciously uncertain how He will come in – but you can be certain that He will come. Remain faithful to Him.
--Oswald Chambers

Some... [want] to recast Jesus as a limp-wrist hippie in a dress with a lot of product in His hair, who drank decaf and made pithy Zen statements about life while shopping for the perfect pair of shoes. In Revelation, Jesus is a pride fighter with a tattoo down His leg, a sword in His hand and the commitment to make someone bleed. That is a guy I can worship. I cannot worship the hippie, diaper, halo Christ because I cannot worship a guy I can beat up. I fear some are becoming more cultural than Christian, and without a big Jesus who has authority and hates sin as revealed in the Bible...
--Mark Driscoll

Hi there, my name is Taylor Lassiter! I am excited about getting to join the Texas team! I love Jesus and bleed Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow.

The first time I went to Awana was in 1st Grade as a guest of my neighbor. I hated Awana-I thought it was boring! The second time I went to Awana was when I was in 2nd Grade when our home church started a club. We played tug-of-war that night, and I was hooked! I did all three books that year and earned my Sparky Award.

I earned my Citation Award in 2003 at Varsity
USA in Omaha, and through the influence of another Awana Missionary, I had the opportunity to go on a short-term missions trip with Awana MIT in high school. I was on the Hungary 2003 team, and it was through this trip that God placed a burden for missions on my heart.

In the summer of 2006, God changed the direction of my life. I was on the fast track to success in college, but God used different circumstances to bring me to work at Awana. I had the opportunity to intern at Awana HQ in the Emerging Ministries Department. It was during this summer that God confirmed my call to become an Awana Missionary.

I have now raised enough support to join the Texas Team on a part-time basis, and as the Lord provides, hope to begin serving full-time by the end of the summer.

As an Outreach Missionary, my main role is going to be recruiting and training teams to host various Awana events, such as the AwanaGames and Bible Quiz. I also hope to help grow the presence of 24-7 Ministries in the Lone Star State.

Please be praying for me and that I will be able to raise my support quickly to be able to begin serving full-time through the ministry of Awana. I serve a God who is able to do immeasurably more than I can ask or think, and I am excited to see what He is going to do in Texas!

Grace and Peace,

Taylor

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
