Awana Ready SET Go eLetter / Feb. 24th - Thursday, September 10, 2009
 Dear Leaders,

Happy Summer! I wanted to update everyone on what has been taking place in our family. My daughter graduated this year and will be attending comm. college. Natalie also earned her Citation. "Way to go Nat! Elijah eared his Third Book Award and Levi earned his First Book Award. Yeah! We took some vacation time and spent it with my parents and had a great time. Penny and I will be celebrating our 21st anniversary in two days :) "Thank you Lord for blessing me so much!" I am excited to report we have many new churches starting Awana. The excitement is in the air and I have been seeing a lot of Awana signs go up in front of churches. In one month we will be having our first Awana Conference. Thank you for your prayers and support and I hope to see you this Awana year.

We love you,

Raine & Penny Gunn

Support
25 cents per week doesn't sound like much but, when fifty T&Ters bring it for the area missionary, that is $50.00 per month. I got a call from a commander who said the church would like to support me $50.00 per month. She said she has fifty T&Ters and asked each one to bring twenty five cents a week. She also told them that was like giving up one coke per month. Please consider supporting our ministry here in East and Southeast Texas. Please see the attached support form and pray, pray, pray.

Quotes
"Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."
"God does not ask your ability or your inability. He asks only your availability."

Funny
A bus driver and a minister were standing in line to get into heaven. The bus driver approached the gate and St. Peter said, "Welcome, I understand you were a bus driver. Since I’m in charge of housing, I believe I have found the perfect place for you. See that mansion over the hilltop? It’s yours.
The minister heard all this and began to stand a little taller. He said to himself, "If a bus driver got a place like that, just think what I’ll get."
The minister approached the gate and St. Peter said, "Welcome, I understand you were a minister. See that shack in the valley?" St. Peter had hardly gotten the words out of his mouth when the shocked minister said, "I was a minister, I preached the gospel, I helped teach people about God. Why does that bus driver get a mansion, and I get a shack?"
Sadly St. Peter responded, "Well, it seems when you preached, people slept. When the bus driver drove, people prayed."

TESTIMONY
New Awana Start Up
From a parent. "My daughter is 4 yrs old (Cubbie) and when we got into the car she knew her scripture and was ready to come back next week. I also was amazed at the number of children and the attentiveness of the Sparks and T&Ts and the way they attacked their books. Game time is going to be off the chain!" Rev. Jason E. Brown. Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church "E
ncouraging students to openly Love God and one another, while Equipping them to Serve others and Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ."

NEED YOUR HELP
This year I am looking to add 60 new Awana ministries to area churches. Here is where you can help. If you know of a church (Even if it is across the street) that could use Awana, please email me the church name and contact information. Also, please pray for this growth and that God will open doors like never before. Thank you for you hard work and dedication. Enjoy your summer and may God richly bless you and your family.

Crime Doesn't Pay
Surprised while burglarizing a house in Antwerp, Belgium, a thief fled out the back door, clambered over a nine-foot wall and dropped down -- in the city prison.

Support (Matching Gift Program)
If you work for a large company, you may have a program where you make a donation and your company will make a matching donation. If you're not sure, just check with your human resources department. Then, if you or human resources have any questions that I can answer to help set Awana up as an approved charity, just let me know. Thank you for your prayers and your support.
